Our goal at Pediatric Dentistry of Columbia is to prevent dental disease and foster a lifetime of healthy habits for our patients – from infancy to adolescence. By providing a clean, friendly and welcoming environment, our “dental home” is here to make your child’s experience at the dentist less intimidating and more fun. Through encouragement and positive reinforcement, we strive to engage the children, listen to their concerns and reassure them as needed.

As a mom and a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Doshi respects the trust that parents place in her, and strives to be partners in helping parents manage their children’s oral health care. Dr. Doshi believes that parental involvement and participation throughout is of the utmost importance. She takes the time to work with parents to generate the best possible outcomes for their child’s oral health. Therefore, parents are always welcome and encouraged to be in the treatment area with their child.

Children with Special Needs

Depending on their history and condition, children with special needs may need special attention.

For instance, some children are more susceptible to tooth decay, gum disease or oral trauma. Others require medication or diets that are, unfortunately, detrimental to dental health. Some children have physical difficulties, which hinder effective dental habits at home, and others may need to pay special attention to dental hygiene due to their medical history.

As a pediatric dental office, Dr. Doshi and her staff are trained in the various aspects of dental care for patients with special needs. Dr. Doshi works with parents of special needs children to customize a preventive strategy tailored to fit the needs of the child.

If your child has a complicated medical history or has special needs, please be sure to inform our office prior to your child’s appointment so that we can be prepared to tailor your visit to the needs of your child.

With your child's health in mind, we provide digital x-rays, which significantly reduce the amount of radiation to which our patients and staff are exposed. This also reduces the use of processing chemicals, and is better for the environment.

We use digital patient software that allows us to consolidate your child’s dental health records safely and securely. It is an environmentally friendly solution, as it reduces the amount of paper and ink that is used in the office.

Our sterilization standards are of the utmost importance for our staff and patients. We abide by the strict standards set forth from OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), and the ADA (American Dental Association).
